Policies & Terms

All riders must be under 200lbs. We also require that all guests fill out and sign our waiver for our escorted trips (see below) before joining us, whether they will be riding horses or not. We strongly encourage trip insurance incase you have to cancel or reschedule your trip or return home early.

For your convenience, we now accept credit card payments directly through our booking system with Fare Harbor. You will notice that they charge a fee for transactions and taxes. If you want to avoid this fee, you will have to pay us directly by check. Your deposit guarantees your spot on this trip.

Unless otherwise noted, deposits are $500.
Our mailing address is:
1070-1 Tunnel Road, Suite 10-309
Asheville, NC 28805

Final payment is due 45 days before the trip. We reserve the right to cancel any reservation for which payment is not received 45 days before the ride begins. After final payment is received you will be mailed a trip packet which will contain a packing list, itinerary and flight schedule.

Deposits are not refundable but can be used as credit towards another trip that we offer. Trip refunds given only if notice is received 40 days or more before the trip start date. No refund will be given for cancellations 40 days and under unless we are able to fill your spot, in which case we will refund 50% of the final payment.

A cancellation of a trip due to insufficient participation will be made with a 30 day notice minimum. America2Iceland will make every effort to provide similar alternative arrangements without additional cost to the buyer. Should the alternative not be to the buyer’s satisfaction a full refund will be made.

Non-riding Companions are welcome on many of the trips. The availability varies from trip to trip.

Our escorted tours have been created, developed, and organized by us. They are more education-focused and the group is accompanied by an escort who is with you from arrival to departure day. Check out our Educate & Rejuvenate and our Sagas & Viking trips.

For the Relax & Ride, and the Trekking Adventure trips we are a contractually authorized reseller of tours at Staðarhús. We do not accept any liability regarding their service. Our only participation is that of facilitating your reservation and guaranteeing payment to them on your behalf. We have presented their offers to the best of our ability, based on the information they have provided to us.

Customers often ask us what Icelandic food is like. We might be biased, but we think it’s delicious. Almost all of the food you will eat on your trip is fresh and locally sourced. The amazingly mild Icelandic Lamb is all raised organic and grass fed. The dairy products are like no other, and Icelanders eat lots of salads and vegetables. Rest assured, you will not go hungry on one of our trips.

We will accommodate guests with food allergies, but unfortunately we are unable to accommodate preferences or diet fads. However, if you are a vegan or vegetarian, prior arrangements will need to be made with the cook.

All of the meals are prepared buffet style, so guests can pick and choose what they want.

Breakfast: Buffet of fresh fruit, cheese, breads, meats, eggs, Icelandic yogurt, skyr, muesli & granola.

Lunch & dinner: A protein such as fish, poultry, lamb or beef accompanied by a starch such as rice or potatoes. Always a salad and/or vegetables and bread. Dessert with dinner.

Complimentary coffee & tea is available 24/7.

Wine & beer is available for purchase by the bottle or glass.

There are only 2 single rooms available to reserve in advance but they do share a bathroom. If you would like to book a double room with a private bathroom, there is an additional fee of $60 per night. Please let us know as soon as you book your trip and we will reserve it for you.

America2Iceland LLC is not responsible for airline accidents or delays, loss of luggage, or medical and customs regulations. If a ride is canceled at any time for a reason beyond our control (weather, earthquake, volcano eruptions), we will refund only the amount the participant has paid to A2I. Ride itineraries may be changed or altered as judged necessary by our trainers, outfitters or hosts.

Customers are responsible for their own airline transportation to Iceland and back. All guests will receive an itinerary for group pick up and drop off before making airline arrangements. If for any reason, you will need to arrive in Iceland after the trip has already begun, or depart Iceland before the trip has finished, please notify us before you purchase your ticket. Ground transportation is included in our trips, only based on the schedule/itinerary provided. Guests will need to be at their designated location (ex: Reykavik hotel) in order to be picked up by our shuttle. If you have a different itinerary planned than what is listed on our schedule, please be advised that you will be responsible for your own transportation.

Due to the nature of Iceland and its peoples, things often move with a different pace and urgency than the in the US and Europe. Therefore be prepared to accept the “Icelandic” way of doing things by going with the flow. It is common that the most tightly planned itinerary can go awry simply because one of our Icelandic hosts ran into an old friend along the way. This is the way of things of Iceland. Remember it’s a vacation and enjoy it.
