Below was our original schedule for this trip. We had to make some last minute changes due to the cancellation of Landsmót. So we added 2 amazing days of sightseeing in the North and an extra clinic day. We also got to watch a mini-Landsmót in Vindheimamelum. So all in all, the trip was a big success.
PART 1
July 2nd - 4th
Departing the US on June 30th and arriving Iceland on the 1st, attending the festival on the 2-4th. Our van will pick you up at the Keflavik airport, or we can make arrangements to pick you up in Reykjavik. Accommodations at Hólar, just minutes from Landsmot. Hólar is beautifully located in the valley Hjaltadalur which is in the Skagafjörður district in the mid-northern part of Iceland. Daily shuttle service to festival and Landsmot tickets will be provided. Lunch and dinner provided on arrival day and breakfast provided only on the days of the festival (food is available at the event).
July 5 - 7th
Accommodations continue at Hólar with use of the fabulous riding facilities with all meals provided. Daily clinic with Gudmar Petursson for riders of all levels. Format provides for both individual attention and group activities on horseback. Clinic conducted inside an indoor arena with oval track access. Horses are individually matched to riders and will be utilized on the trek for participants electing that option. This riding clinic is a similar format to our popular Educate & Rejuvenate trips.
July 1 - 8th (Part 1): $3,000
PART 2
July 8 - 12th
This special trek has been customized to cater to the needs of our clients. After our riding clinic, we will continue to explore the northern region of Iceland. The Lake Mývatn area is often called the Diamond Circle due to the high density of interesting sights. It witnesses the power of Mother Earth with a display of eerie lava formations, high rising steam clouds, black sand deserts and boiling multi-coloured mud pools. The lake itself is a famous breeding area for ducks, nesting in lush vegetation and raising their ducklings, sheltered by nature and protected by man. Riding for 4 days for 5-7 hours per day. Comfortable shared accommodations with made up beds. All meals during trek included as well as transportation and flight out of Akureyri. Fly out of Akureyri on July 11th to spend your final night in Reykjavik and visit the Blue Lagoon on the day of departure (July 12th). Shuttle to airport or drop off in Reykjavik is provided. This trek is for intermediate riders. Riders coming on the trek, must be comfortable in Tolt, Trot, over varying terrain and some Canter.
July 8 - 12th (Part 2): $2,000
